Teary Thursday

Managed to have a webcam conference with Joash and the mic is working too. Cayden was very excited to see his father after a long time. He sat in front of me and kept calling papa...papa......It sounded so sweet and so crisp.

And as it was the first day of CC after the long holidays, I told him that I am going to change him into CC uniforms. He stared at me and said :"no no no there there" and pushed my hands away and kept telling me "there there". He was trying to ask me to go "there", meaning, go away...hahahahahaa.....
(BTW, Joash was on the webcam "helping" to pacify Cayden).

After the longest time, when we were all ready to go, I told Cayden to say bye bye to Joash. He got really upset and immediately went to my laptop and frantically trying to "touch" him and kept crying "no no no papa papa" He got this desperate look in his eyes when he tried to stop his papa from going away.

It was so heart-wenching..........

Swallowing the lump in my throat, I could only tell him:" Papa is going to have his dinner. We go downstairs and eat our breakfast oki?" Thankfully, he nodded his head.

Children are masters of adaptation. They are usually far more adaptable than adults.

I strongly believe in it......

Just Cayden and Mama......

I haven't tried bringing Cayden out alone. It was always either with Joash or my mum or my sisters......Yesterday, I wanted to visit Jan who has just given birth to a baby girl (cute !) at TMC in the evening. As my mum and my sisters were not free, I decided to bring Cayden along and then planned a trip to United Square for dinner.

Just packed the bare essentials and his dinner, strapped Cayden in his carseat and drove off. Fortunately, Cayden is so used to sitting in the carseat that he did not fuss at all. Reached TMC in no time and met Matthew and his mum and dad at the lobby.

Went up to visit Jan and her new baby. WOW...it is a 1-bed private room.....NICE !!! The room has a plasma screen ...and it also have a small living area for guests...and on top of that, TMC serve really good confinement food....

(oki....no more free advertising........but WOW WOW WOW !!!)

Anywhere, we had dinner at United Square with Sandy, Mike and Matthew. Cayden finished his porridge, half my bowl of macaroni soup. And thanks Mike, who helped to search for a high chair and then stacked the chairs to confine my rascal..... :)

I wanted to see some winter boots for Cayden....but we ended up in Clifford...

Then we walked passed Toyrus. Cayden was hopping and dancing all the way to Toyrus. He was playing with the rows and rows of batteries.....I got bored...wanted an ice-cream....so I asked Cayden.." Cayden...you want an ice-cream ?"

He immediately dropped his pack of batteries, with eyes lit up, he pointed to his mouth and said "YAY YAY !" Hahaha....I did not expect such a excited response....

Overall, the short outing is pretty good as Cayden was quite co-operative. I got more confident now to bring that rascal out ..... Posted by Picasa

Narrow Window...

It has been two days since Joash reached Chicago.....he reached on monday morning singapore time at 5 plus in the morning. He gave us a call at 7 plus in the morning. For the whole day of Sunday, Cayden only occasionally asked "where's papa ?". But when he chatted with Joash over the phone on Monday morning, he was very upset after Joash hang up the phone. Cayden kept crying for Papa.....and I was desperately trying to activate the webcam and trying to pacify an upset kiddo......

In the end, it was his own image on the webcam which distract him......we "talked" to Joash for a while, as the mic is not working on yahoo messenger..... (WHY?) But the timing window for webcam conference is very small. It is not daylight saving now so the time difference is 13 hours. When it is 7-8am in the morning, it will be 6-7pm in chicago, which means that Joash might be on the way home or still in office. And when it is 8-9pm in the night, it will be 7-8am in the morning for Joash. That will be the only ideal time for Joash to catch Cayden on webcam......

But once the daylight savings kicks in, the difference will be 14 hours....which makes it even worse......When it is 7-8am in the morning, it will be 5-6pm in chicago, and when it is 8-9pm in the night, it will be 6-7am in the morning for Joash....

so....Joash ....please wake up abit earlier oki.... :)

Cool Dude !!!

Mama :

My myopia is very bad. I have been wearing glasses since Primary 3 and the degree for both eyes are about 800-900 degrees each. So every morning, if i happened to sleep with my glasses on the night before, I would have to search for my glasses the next morning. Most of the time, I would dedicate this important task to Cayden.

Recently, he requested for his own glasses.......

PS : His nose is pretty flat so he kept pushing his glasses to make it stay in place...... Posted by Picasa

About Us...

So...it is all settled now....Joash is due to fly off on the 22nd Oct 2006. It is snowing in Chicago now....isn't it abit too early to snow at this time of the year ?!

We have moved out of the Parc Oasis apartment and moved to stay with my parents. The whole packing and moving stuff bits by bits into my parents's and parent-in-law's place took 1 month to finish. Also rented out our apartment for two years.

Joash did not want to bring too many things over but only the necessarities. This is also because of the voltage difference. So, in the end, he only brought his clothes, a few books, a travel cooker, a small rice cooker, laptop, mobile..and a few other small things. All these still come up to 2 hugh luggages, 1 cabin trolley bag and a haversack. That's it.....his life is a total of 55 KG.

We (Cayden and I) together with my younger sister plan a trip to US sometimes in DEC. We plan to fly in directly to Boston to stay with Jean and Joash will fly in during his christmas break. Fortunately, with all my flying, I have accumulated enough krisflyer points to get a 18 hrs Executive Economy direct flight into NY and from there it is only a domestic flight of 1 hr and 45 minutes into Boston. Cayden is still under 2 then, so it is not so expensive to get him a infant ticket. His domestic ticket is free.

So these few weekends, Joash has been spending lots of time playing with Cayden, swinging him like a monkey, making milk in the morning, took leave to look after him, and also carry Cayden alot.....so he dun have to sit in a stroller or walk.....

....and this is my favourite pic....

Mister Drama Mama...

See all those balls in the background ?

We were at the Hong Kah Community Center, supporting my sister's youth cum children's day event. Cayden was in the middle of the field full of all these balls. He held on to one ball and attempted to kick another one. He had so much fun that he practically ignored us when we called out to him, saying that we were going home.

I made a bet with Joash. I bet that Cayden will not walk to us unless we scoop him up forcefully from the mass of balls.

So....I was wrong....Joash called him a few times...and he ran to us happily.....do you know why ? See the Yakult bottle in Joash's hand.........rascal !!! make me lose my bet !

Ya...he finished his drink, he had his fun.....he is tired now...and wants to be out of his car-seat ........
